Bad design is like wearing a rumpled suit. It doesn't mean you're a bad person, but it may give people the wrong impression.

In every aspect of your life you encounter design. Spam email is designed. The menu at your favorite restaurant, the "detour" sign that caused you to drive 5 miles out of the way last week, and the tax forms you fill out each year are all designed.

The question is—were these things designed well? Did the menu at your favorite restaurant look inviting? Did the detour sign cause you to get lost? Did the tax forms make sense?

Positive or negative, intentional or accidental, design creates an experience. Everything is designed, but not everything is designed well.

Through design you have the power to change the perceptions of your company, create a positive brand experience, or maintain the status quo while your competitors take risks and bask in the glory.

When you think about that, design really does matter. Not all design is created equal.

At Design Matters, we embrace the opportunity to distinguish your product or service through good design.
